Completed arrangements are being announced for Gary Cleveland “Chopper” Booker, 64, of Hornbeak, who died at his home Nov. 29, 2012.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with burial following at Stanley’s Chapel Cemetery near Union City.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Damion Metzger, Weston Magee, Robert Hayes, T.J. Booker, Charles Webb, Tony Magee, Robert Tankersley and Dylan Tankersley.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
He was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Carlisle County, Ky., son of the late Euna Elizabeth (McGary) and James Robert Booker Sr. He married the former Theresa Sanford May 25, 2001. She survives.
He was a 1966 graduate of Carlisle County High School in Kentucky and he earned his associate’s degree from Draughons Business College. He worked as a hoist operator at Kohler in Union City for 13 years. A Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran, he served as a communications specialist at Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Campbell, Ky.; Fort Dix, N.J.; and in Vietnam and Germany.  
He was a life member and served as post commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bardwell, Ky., from 1996-99.
He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Tony Magee of Boaz, Ky., and Kristy Gray and Charles Webb of Union City; seven grandchildren and the spouse of one, Samantha and Damion Metzger, Isabella Magee and Weston Magee, all of Mayfield, Ky., Satara Webb and Alyssa Webb, both of Union City, and Dalton Gray and Maddie Gray, both of South Fulton; his great-grandchild, Emmett Knoxx Metzger; his great-granddaughter, Mollie Kate Metzger, whose arrival is expected very soon; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Sharman Booker and Mike and Margie Tankersley, all of Cunningham, Ky., and Bill and Brenda Booker of Water Valley, Ky.; and three sisters, Dorothy Leyhue of Greenfield, Patty Thomas of Mayfield and Florine McPherson of Paducah, Ky.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Tollie Booker, Jim Booker and Jackie Booker.
