On Wednesday we dismissed our services for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Our Sunday morning service began with Bro. Ryan Doughty leading “The Old Rugged Cross.” Bro. Robert Pogue asked for prayer requests and read scripture.

We were then dismissed to our classes by Bro. Scott Walker. Our lesson was from Acts 17:16-31 a study about Paul.

Our 11 a.m. hour began with Bro. Ryan Doughty leading “I Will Sing the Wondrous Story.” Bro. Billy Garner made out announcements and asked for prayer requests. Our ushers, Bro. Ryan Doughty and Bro. Seth Fulcher, came to take the offering with Bro. Ryan Doughty blessing it.  Bro. Ryan Doughty then came for birthday and anniversaries.  He then led “Heaven Came Down.” Bro. Billy Garner brought the word from Matthew 7:21-23. Bro. Ryan Doughty led the closing song “Softly and Tenderly.” Bro. Scott Walker closed in prayer.

Our evening service was started by playing Christmas music. Mrs. Barbara Castleman welcomed us and then asked Bro. Billy Garner to open in prayer. We then started our “Hanging of the Greens” service. This is a beautiful service to help prepare us for the Christmas season. As we decorated the church, different families came forward to tell about the different symbols of Christmas such as wreaths, Advent wreath and the Nativity. As each item was talked about, they would be placed in the church like putting the Nativity on the communion table in front of the church. At the end of the service, Bro. Billy Garner read from Isaiah 9:6 and spoke a few words. We were then dismissed to our homes by Bro. Gerald Wilkerson.

Dec. 23 at 11 a.m.  will be our Christmas service with a program from our youth. All are invited to attend.

We will dismiss our night service.
