Twelve members of the Obion County Rescue Squad recently attended the 57th Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads Convention in Knoxville.
The rescue squad and its ladies auxiliary, the Crewettes — part of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads — received several awards.
The Crewettes’ awards included those for Region IV attendance for Obion County; second place in Service to Squad and Community; third place in scrapbook; and first place in Cooking With the Crewettes, a new competition, for its entry of a pound cake baked by Deana Lee, as well as Fan Favorite.
In addition, Crewettes member Sherri Preuett was presented a certificate for 45 years of service to WATARS; and Linda Foster was sworn in as Region IV vice president and Mrs. Lee as state historian for 2012-13.
The local rescue squad’s TARS awards included member Teddy Willcutt being one of two people honored as a TARS Lifetime Member; third place in scrapbook; second place in the Morris J. Simpson Extrication Winners Circle for the West Tennessee Fellows (WTF), comprised of Obion County and Humboldt area rescue squads; second place in Team Building/Rescue Challenge for WTF; and third place in emergency care for WTF.
An Obion County Rescue Squad spokesman said there were several other competitions and business meetings conducted at the state convention, adding that everyone had a good time and learned new things to help the squad better serve Obion County.
