In addition to regular activities, several special holiday events are planned at Obion County Public Library, located at 1221 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City.
There will be a Christmas party for area children, sponsored by Friends of the Obion County Public Library, 1-3 p.m. Dec. 8. There will be crafts and snacks and Santa will be on hand for photo opportunities.
A teen Christmas craft program is set for 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. Teens from 13-19 years old will be making homemade candles and mugs to be used as gifts. The supply fee is $5 per set and preregistration is required.
The preschool story time Christmas party will be 10 a.m. Dec. 17. Children from birth to 5 years old can take part in a gift exchange if they bring a wrapped gift valued at $5.
Children involved in the Kids Craft program for students from kindergarten through sixth grade will be making snowman soup and decorating containers for gifts from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Dec. 5.
The supply fee is $2 and preregistration is required.
The tWeen Book Club for ages 10-12 will meet Dec. 6 to discuss “Guardians of Childhood.”
Writers Club for middle school and high school students will meet Dec. 13 and there will be a surprise project announcement.
Teen Book Club for those 13-19 years old will meet Dec. 20 for an end-of-semester party and book celebration and the Teen advisory Group, open to the same age range, will meet and have a Christmas party Dec. 20 from 5-7 p.m.
The annual Parade of Trees, featuring Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations, is open to the public.
Holiday hours at the library will include being closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.
