Don Wallace Childress, 76, of Bogota passed away Nov. 25, 2012, in Bogota.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bogota Church of Christ with John Huse Rob-inson and Todd Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Wally Childress, Tony Childress, Drew Ross, Doug Single-teary, Neal Tubbs, Robert Friedmann, Trey Childress and David Jones.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Bogota Church of Christ or to The Bogota Community Center.
He was a farmer, a graduate of Dyersburg High School, a member and treasurer of Bogota Church of Christ, a board member of Farm Bureau and president of Elbridge Water Association. He served as Dyer County Commissioner for 14 years, was a Century Farm recipient, was a board member of Bogota Drainage District and Bogota Community Center and was a member of Bogota Volunteer Fire Department. He was a supporter of Dyer County Junior Market Livestock Association and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Judy (Bargery) Childress; five children and their spouses, Julie (Childress) and Mark Moore, Don Wallace “Wally” Childress II  and Tracy Childress, Tony Andrew and LeAnn Childress, Jill (Childress) and Robert Friedmann and Jennifer (Childress) and Todd Hampton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Drew and Gena Ross, Doug and Britni Singleteary, Olivia Childress, Emma Friedmann, Trey Childress and Ellie Friedmann; four great-grandchildren, Carter Ross, Jared Dale Ross, Ace Ross and Jacks Singleteary; and his sister, Polly (Childress) Harness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Andrew and Mary Louise (Strachn) Childress; two brothers, Roy Wilburn Childress and Charles F. Childress; and his grandson, Dale Singleteary.
