Union City rallied twice in the fourth quarter to claim a pair of middle school basketball victories over Three Oaks Monday, while Ridgemont swept Gibson County in another local hoop highlight.
Elsewhere, the Hillcrest girls beat Lake County, before the Falcon boys won the nightcap.
South Fulton and Lake Road both lost two games, to Martin and Paris Inman, respectively.
The following is a recap of those games reported to the Messenger.
UC 44, Three Oaks 37 (G)
A 15-6 fourth-quarter rally — fueled by their defense — lifted the Lady Tornadoes to a West Tennessee Athletic Conference victory and improved their overall mark to 4-2.
Tykesha Vaughn led three UC players in double digits with 16 points, while both Chynia Hyde and Alivia Bishop pitched in 11 markers apiece.
Bishop snatched a team-high eight rebounds, Hyde collected seven and Vaughn recorded five steals and four caroms.
Union City led 22-19 at the half, but trailed 31-29 entering the stretch run.
UC 48, Three Oaks 37 (B)
The Tornado boys had an even bigger fourth quarter comeback — a 23-4 burst that turned an eight-point deficit into an 11-point victory.
UC (5-1, 2-1 in WTAC play) was behind 33-25 at the end of three periods.
Willaevion Burton pumped in 17 points, while Tarius Pirtle scored 10. Jeremy Bumpus had nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Tornado teams play host to Dyersburg on Thursday.
Ridgemont 39, GC 20 (G)
Carly Bramlett accounted for 14 points and Kari O’Steen had seven to lead the Lady Mustangs to a victory.
R’mont led 12-5 with one period in the book and was up 19-11 at the half.
The Mustangs expanded that difference to 29-16 after three.
Katelyn Hurst led GC with eight points and Catherine Watts had seven.
Ridgemont 59, GC 37 (B)
The Mustang boys made it a sweep of GC in the nightcap as Alden Marvin led a threesome of double-figure scoring with 16 points.
J.P. Jones had 12 points and Cody Little 10 for the victors.
Ridgemont will visit Hillcrest Thursday.
Hillcrest 33, LC 21 (G)
The Lady Cougars are now 5-1 after beating LC Monday.
McClain Bell had 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals to pace the victors, while Courtney Heuck recorded a double-double with 11 points and the same number of rebounds.
Macey Cox hauled down a club-best 12 boards, while Justice Pearson had eight.
Hillcrest held a 10-6 lead after a low-scoring first half.
LC 46, Hillcrest 20 (B)
A slow start in which the Cougars could manage but three points kept Hillcrest from challenging a tough LC squad.
Garrett Northam made 3-of-4 3-pointers to lead H’crest with nine points and Tyler Walton pitched in with eight.
Walker Johnson drew praise from head coach Mason Storey by claiming five rebounds and doing “a great job of boxing out.”
The Cougars (2-4) trailed 28-13 at the half.
Hillcrest hosts Ridgemont Thursday.
Martin 42, SF 26 (G)
The Devilettes never led in seeing their record fall to 4-3.
Martin was up 17-9 after the first quarter and 28-11 at the intermission.
Emma Glisson had 11 points and five rebounds for South Fulton, while Diamond Smith scored six points. Tiffany Potts had four rebounds.
Martin 45, SF 44 (B)
The Redmen led 29-25 with three periods in the book, but saw Martin pull out the victory with a 20-15 fourth-quarter edge.
The loss spoiled a stellar individual effort by SF’s Jyriq Jones, who finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.
No other South Fulton player had more than six points.
The Devils led 10-4 after one, 20-18 at the half and 29-25 with three periods in the books.
South Fulton is at home to play Black Oak on Thursday in its next game and will host Hickman on Dec. 3
Inman 29, LR 20 (G)
A two-point second quarter put the Lady Generals in a 17-8 halftime hole and LR could never catch up.
Lake Road is now 5-2 on the season.
Taylor Heathcock had seven points and seven rebounds for the Generals, Jenna Smith finished with five steals, and Lindsey Craddock had five points for LR.
Inman 40, LR 10 (B)
The Generals are still in search of their first win after losing at Paris.
Blake Huggins had 11 rebounds and four points for Lake Road.
The two General teams are on the road to Fulton City Thursday night.
Lake Road will then travel to county rival Black Oak on Dec. 3
