MARTIN — Hollie Holt, director of the Miss University of Tennessee at Martin and Miss Tennessee Soybean Festival scholarship pageants, was recently named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Miss Tennessee Organization.
Ms. Holt has served as director of the UT Martin and Miss Tennessee Soybean Festival pageants for four years. Jane Alderson, executive director of the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant, presented the award.
“It is an honor to be involved with an organization that is the nation’s leading achievement program for young women,” said Ms. Holt. “I believe in this organization and what it stands for. Without the work of countless volunteers, the opportunities and scholarships for these women would not be possible.”
The Miss Tennessee Organization annually awards more than $100,000 in scholarships to young women ages 17-24 across the state.
The Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant is the official state preliminary for the Miss America Organization.
