UDC chapter wins awards

Paris Chapter 2521 United Daughters of the Confederacy members Joy Bland, Donna Cooley, Shelia Hopkins, Laura Nunnelee, Julie Wilson and Sandra L.Paschall recently attended the 116th annual Division Convention.
Held at the Riverview Inn in Clarksville, the Convention theme was “A Weekend with Mrs. Caroline,” with Ft. Donelson 1582, Old Hickory 747, and John Hunt Morgan 2593 Chapters hosting.  Mrs. Caroline Meriwether Goodlett was the founder and first President of the United Daughters of theConfederacy organization.
Paris Chapter 2521 earned 15 awards for its work during 2011-2012. They are:
First Place, tie, for Best Confederate History Month report; first place (medium chapter) for most new members; most Confederate flags flown by members on UDC days of observance; Most Confederate flags placed at graves or monuments on other days; most names of original recipients of Southern Cross of Honor (66) submitted; third place (medium chapter) for most supplemental filed; most new members; most Confederate flags flown by members on other days; third place, tie, for most money donated to the cannon project; West division (medium chapter) for public relations, patriotic activities and recognition of black Confederates; division advertising; music of division advertising; Confederacy, Donna Cooley, division chairman; Mrs. Norman Randolph relief, and Sandra Paschall, division chairman.
