Dresden Duplicate Bridge

A “pig licking cake” was served by Lois Harbour and John Harbour to Minnie Bess Williams Wednesday at bridge.  The occasion was Minnie’s 98th birthday and also Lois bridge partner for umpteen years.  Homemade piemento cheese for sandwiches to put on oat nut bread and sugar-glazed Pecans, from her own back yard, was also served.
Also for the special event, we had a friendship cake, bananna nut bread, spinach dip with pretzels, cream cheese with pomegranet glaze, nuts and cheese.
In the first place, we had come to play bridge and we had four complete tables in  play which is treat to all.  John Harbour with his sophisticated computer is there and does all our scores and we get a print-out after the game is over.
After this particular game, everyone having bushels of fun and laughter filling the room.  we did have some winners announced.  First place, Gene Fulks and Carolyn Rogers; second place, Sue Thompson of Paris and Serena Williams of Union City; third place, Jackye Hohman, Carol Ehlers of Paris; and fourth place, Betty Fields of Hickman, Ky. and Toni Pritchett.
We also honored Jackye Hohman because we had the full half page from “The Paris Intelligence,” Newspaper, honororing her for her service to the human services for 17 years.  She gives her time to them every Tuesday from 10:00 to 4:00.    Besides that, she and her partner Carol Ehlers win at Dresden Duplicate Bridge very often.
We appreciate these fine players and hard workers.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.  We will play again Nov. 28. Published in The WCP 11.20.12
