Palmersville Baptist Church news
Palmersville Baptist Church news Posted: Tuesday, November 20, 2012 6:00 pm On Wednesday, we opened our service singing “I’d Rather Have Jesus.” Our bible study was from 1 Timothy 3:13-4:9. On Saturday evening, we were saddened to hear of the passing of one of our members, Danny Casey. Our sympathies are extended to his family as well as all others that have lost loved ones this week. On this Lord’s Day, our Sunday school lesson was from Acts 13:1-14:28, titled, “Engage in Kingdom Building.” This lesson was about the focusing on building God’s kingdom through building disciples. We sang “Happy Birthday” to Emma Doede and her sister Ailee Doede. Others celebrating this week are Ms. Alpha Belle Jackson and happy anniversary to Bob and Mary Webb. Our hymns we sang were “Because He Lives,” “There Is Power in the Blood,” “Jesus Paid it All” and “He Lives.” Our message about “blessings” was from Psalm 100:84, 10-12; 103:12, 14-16; 91:11 and 1 John 4:4. We ended with testimonials of how God has blessed us and what we were thankful for. At the end of our service, we welcomed Crystal Jackson to our church family. In the evening, Bro. Kieth welcomed us. Dana Stafford along with some of our children talked about “Mixed Blessings,” the Thanksgiving bags they were going to give us. The mixed blessings were: bugles-shaped like a cornucopia, a symbol of nation’s abundance; pretzels, arms folded in prayer; Thanksgiving for worship, candy corn, corn was one of the first vegetables grown in the new land, nuts or seeds, hope for the future harvest; dried fruit, harvest gifts from our bountiful land; M&M’s, missionaries and military; and Hershey’s kisses, the love of family and friends that sweetens our lives. We were then dismissed for our delicious Thanksgiving meal prepared by our youth and some adults. We really appreciate them and their hard work. We hope each one has a blessed Thanksgiving. None
