Robert Moorman McAnulty Jr., 86, died of congestive heart failure Aug. 9, 2012. His beloved wife, Joan Sherwood McAnulty, died in October 2009.
He is survived by four children, Robert Moorman McAnulty III, Mary Elizabeth Henry, Eleanor Winston Sheffield and William Walker McAnulty; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was born in Union City and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1949. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy and retired from active service in 1975. While in the Navy and during his retirement, he traveled extensively both worldwide and domestically. He found great joy in boating, duck hunting and fishing on Reelfoot Lake and became an official Gray’s Camp community resident in 1981. He also spent many hours bird watching.
At the time of his death, he resided in Dania Beach, Fla., where he purchased a residence in 2000.
A graveside service will take place at East View Cemetery Sunday at 1 p.m.
