Delphian Review Club met recently at the home of Mrs. J.T. Vaughan.
President Mrs. Tommy Chrisp presided.
Secretary Mrs. Bill Simrell called the roll, with 14 members present, and read the minutes from the October meeting. Mrs. Thel Taylor gave the treasurer’s report.
The club held a brief business meeting and then enjoyed an informative book report given by Mrs. Vaughn on Bee Wilson’s book entitled “Consider the Fork.” The book described the culinary history of fire in the progression of preparation of food, as well as the knife being used solely for dining in the beginning. Gradually the spoon and fork were introduced. She told of the progression of gas, electric and microwave ovens. Mrs. Vaughan concluded her report with the author’s statement, “Kitchens come alive when you cook in them, not how you decorate them.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Peggy Burnett served a delicious walnut cake and coffee.
