Johnny Henry Akers, 69, of Obion died Nov. 13, 2012, at his home after an extended illness.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with the Rev. Scott Fields officiating. Burial will follow there in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Long, Richard Hood, James Wyrick, Jimmy Eaves, Brandon Jones and J.R. Jones.
He was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Willisville, son of the late Noah Vincent Akers and the late Alta Marie (Newborn) Akers Sikes.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Dwayne and Angela Akers of Troy; his daughter and son-in-law, Brandy Ranee and Michael Alexander of Union City; his brother and sister-in-law, Royce and Brenda Akers of Obion; seven grandchildren, Desarai Akers, Destany Akers, Danielle Akers and Damara Akers, all of Troy, and Jonathan Kirk, Kamyrn Kirk and Kaden Alexander, all of Union City; and his caretaker, Shelia M. McCoy of Obion.
