A REAL TREAT — Members of the Westview Key Club recently participated in the nationwide Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign. Among those who collected donations at recent Westview football game were (from left) Samantha Dailey, Victoria Skeen and Mackenzie Quick. Money raised supported ELIMINATE, the worldwide service project of Kiwanis International. The goal of ELIMINATE is to raise $110 million dollars worldwide to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, a deadly disease that kills nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year in developing countries. Effects of the disease are excruciating and tiny newborns suffer repeated painful
convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. The disease can be eliminated by giving expectant mothers a tetanus shot, according to a Key Club spokesman, who expressed appreciation to the community for its support. Published in The WCP 11.13.12
