2 UT Martin students robbed by armed males
Two students were robbed by armed assailants late Monday night on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus.
The incident occurred around midnight at University Village Phase 1 apartments, the eastern-most of the new apartment-style facilities on campus, according to Bud Grimes with University Relations.
The two students were allegedly robbed by four males who were armed, but the type of weapons involved is not being released by authorities at this time.
Both victims sustained injuries in the incident, with one of them taken to a hospital for treatment and released earlier this morning. Their names have not been released by the university.
“Both students are OK,” Grimes told The Messenger this morning.
UT Martin’s Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident and has leads in the case, according to Grimes.
He said the investigation is continuing today. No incident report had yet been filed at press time this morning.
Anyone who has information about the robbery should contact UT Martin’s Department of Public Safety or a local law enforcement agency. Published in The WCP 11.13.12
