An Obion County driver sustained possible injury when he lost control of his motorcycle and it crashed Saturday evening at West Reelfoot Avenue and Old Troy Road in Union City.
John W. Scott, 46, of 1088 Beech Chapel Road, Union City, was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City following a wreck that occurred just before 6 p.m., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police arrived at the scene to find Scott’s 2004 Harley-Davidson™ motorcycle with damage to its right side and Scott complaining of possible injury to his shoulder area.
Scott told police a car was pulling from Ryan’s Steak House onto Old Troy Road and pulled into his lane, then backed up out of his traffic lane after he lost control of the motorcycle and it landed on its right side. Police reported, however, that the front of the car was three to four feet from the roadway white lane stripe.
The driver and occupants of the car, as well as witnesses in another vehicle, told police they never entered the traffic lane and did not back up or move the vehicle after the motorcycle laid over, according to the report.
Scott was issued a citation for financial responsibility law violation due to not having current insurance documents, police reported.
