Catharine Williams Posted: Tuesday, November 13, 2012 10:39 am The Messenger, November 12, 2012 Catharine C. Williams, 87, of Union City died Nov. 10, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Services were set for 11 a.m. today at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Caroline Farmer officiating. Burial was to follow in Sanders Chapel Cemetery near Union City. Family and friends were to serve as pallbearers. The family requests that memorials be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Christian Life Center building fund; or to Wags and Whiskers, P.O. 472, Union City, TN 38281. She was born April 5, 1925, in Durham, N.C., daughter of the late Johnny and Vivian (Addison) Chappell. She married Luther Roy Williams July 6, 1946. He died Feb. 24, 2003. As a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir until recently. She had a great love of classical music and was also a member of the church’s Fellowship Sunday School Class. As part of her many church volunteer efforts, she put together disaster relief kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief. She was also a member of the former Pleasant Valley Family and Community Education Club. She continues to inspire all by her community service, friendship and love. She was the widow of a United Methodist minister. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sue Williams of Memphis; two brothers, Charles Edward Chappell and William Chappell, both of Durham; and several nieces and nephews, including Larry Williams of Jackson.
