BIG BUCK CONTEST
Posted: Tuesday, November 13, 2012 6:20 am The OC Anglers, the support group for the Obion County Student Angler Federation, is hosting a Big Buck contest Saturday. The event is co-sponsored by Final Flight and Jeff’s Custom Taxidermy. The entry fee is $25 and must be received by Friday at Union City Marine or to Melanie Mitchell at Obion County Central High School. The winner of the contest will receive a .270 rifle and a free mounting. The deer must be harvested Saturday, opening day of Tennessee deer season, and check-in is from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Final Flight. Hunter Carter (left) president of the Student Anglers, and John Garrett (right) SSO liaison for the Student Anglers, met with Jon Ed Powers of Final Flight to view the rifle that will be given away. The Student Anglers are a new team at OCCHS and the funds raised will allow the team to enter many different fishing competitions throughout the year in order to have the opportunity to earn scholarships to college. The students do not just fish in the club, but they are taught the math and science behind fishing in order to become a more well-rounded sportsman. For any questions, please contact Johnny Garrett at 885-2903.
