SPECIAL DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE — There’s still a week left to purchase advance tickets for the annual Union City Kiwanis Club pancake day, which has been renamed Myrtle Harton Pancake Day in honor of the long-time Kiwanian. For $5 per ticket, participants can enjoy an all-you-can-eat meal of pancakes, sausage and drink. The event will take place on Nov. 17 from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. at Union City Middle School. The Kiwanis Club is partnering with Main Street-Union City this year and ticketholders will be able to show their ticket stubs to receive special discounts from Main Street merchants on that day. Among those who gathered recently to discuss the upcoming event were (front, from left) Kiwanians McKinley Johnson and Mrs. Harton, Main Street member Gina Ursery, (back) Kiwanians Joe Ward, John Fry, Randy Thetford, Jennifer Slack, Christie Beeler and Seth Rhenberg, Main Street merchants Sheila Ervin and Tim Rudd, Kiwanian Fred Hancock and Main Street member Lolly Bearden. Tickets are available from any Union City Kiwanis Club member or at the door. Published in The Messenger 11.9.12
