Martha Norwood

Mrs. Martha Jane Goforth Norwood, 70, of Martin, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin with Rev. Kerry Shopher officiating. Burial will in East Side Cemetery in Martin.

Family members served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Norwood was born Aug. 19, 1942 in Ripley, daughter of the late J. C. and Eddie Idell Moddlin Goforth. She formerly worked at Tyson Foods in Union City and is a member of Ralston Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn (Sherry) Payne and Thomas (Vickie) Payne, both of Martin; three brothers, J. B. Goforth of Caruthersville, Mo., Jake Junior Goforth of Ripley and Jimmy Goforth of Halls; five sisters, Margaret Bowles, Jeanette Booker, Cathy Benson and Brenda Lewis, all of Halls and Lyvon Maxwell of Ripley; four grandchildren, Keisha Baker, Thomas Lynn Payne, Kayla Evans and Christopher Payne; and five great-grandchildren.
