Congratulations to our pastor, Tony Michael and wife, Judy for being married 36 years as of last week. We sang happy anniversary to them during our morning service Sunday.
Our young children sang “Jesus Loves the Little Children of the World” for our special music. Some of the children had painted their faces red, yellow, black or white to go with the song. They shouted Operation Christmas Child at the end of their song. They were holding up signs of names of some of the countries where our shoebox gifts go.
Bro. Tony used I Peter 4:1-11 for his morning sermon text. He told us we must be different from the world, we cannot conform to the world and expect the world to take us serious.
That night Bro. Tony read from I John 2:15-17. He told us we need to recognize things that will draw us away from the Lord and into the world. He told us we are to lead the lost to Christ but not to love the lifestyle of the unsaved.
Sunday our Acteens will have a fundraising spaghetti meal immediately after the morning church service in our fellowship hall.
All donations for Operation Christmas Child need to be at our church by Sunday night. Our extra shoebox gifts will be assembled Nov/ 14 and delivered to Bible Union on Thursday. We have had a yard sale, bake sale and some of our ladies have met to craft dolls, jewelry and purses to help fill our boxes this year.
Please make your plans to attend the annual Thanksgiving Community Service at Jolley Springs Nov. 18. Everyone of all faiths are invited to attend this wonderful joint evening service and stay for the potluck meal to follow.
Hulon Moon is in the Henry County hospital; Leon Russell will have surgery soon; and Dorothy Bailey is still suffering from a fall she had a couple of weeks ago.
