Christine Shelby Vaden, formerly of Nashville and Union City, died Nov. 3, 2012, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Ind.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens at 9090 Highway 100 near Nashville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., with the memorial service at 1 and burial following.
The family requests that donations be made to Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, 410 Allied Drive, Nashville, TN 37211.
She was born April 28, 1921, in Union City, daughter of the late Hugh and Mattie (Harris) Caldwell.
She graduated from the former Freed-Hardeman College in 1941.
She married Lloyd W. Shelby in 1942. He died in 1981.
She married Farris Vaden in 2004. He died in 2011.
She was a member of Exchange Street Church of Christ in Union City.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel L. Shelby of Boonville, Ind., and Lee W. Shelby of Fresno, Calif.; her stepson, Barry Vaden of Coral Gables, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Diane Caldwell and Sarah Shelby; her cousin, Martha Harris; her devoted friend, Karen Trout; four grandchildren and their spouses, Lloyd and Denise Shelby, Elizabeth and Jesse Murry, Sean Shelby and Christine and Stephen Lippert; and four great-grandchildren, Alex Shelby, Eric Shelby, Christian Lippert and Shelby Lippert.
