|Fire call leads to multiple drug arrests |

|Three people were arrested on drug charges after the Union City Fire Department and Union City Police Department responded to an apartment fire Sunday night. |
According to a press release from the police department, the departments responded at 10:04 p.m. Sunday to 105 East Lee St., Union City, after a caller advised there was an apartment fire and people were still in the building. The building was evacuated and the fire extinguished.
Officers were alerted to the fire’s being started by a possible “one pot” meth lab in apartment No. 10. The resident, Clyde Wilkerson Owen III, was located allegedly fleeing the building and was arrested. He confessed to cooking meth in the apartment, the release stated.
Also arrested were Deidira Elaine Huggins of 631 Highway 118, Dresden, and Christopher Clark Woods of 2680 Flippen Lane, Union City.
All three were charged with one count criminal conspiracy to initiate the process of methamphetamine, one count initiation of the process of methamphetamine, one count promotion of methamphetamine, one count reckless arson and 10 counts reckless endangerment.
Minor damage was caused by the fire to apartment No. 10; however, none of the tenants in the building were allowed to return to their apartments. Housing was provided for them by the American Red Cross.
Union City police officers were assisted with the lab cleanup by members of the Obion County Sheriff’s Department. Published in The Messenger 11.5.12
