Over a million people in Tennessee participated in early voting — including nearly 6,900 in Obion County.
The two-week statewide early voting period ended Thursday.
In Obion County, a total of 6,898 people cast their ballots during the early voting period, according to the Obion County Election Commission office.
Secretary of State Tre Hargett reported Thursday that early voting across the state continued at a strong pace leading into the final day to vote before Tuesday’s election. More than 106,000 voters statewide cast their ballots Wednesday, bringing the overall total to more than 1.3 million voters through 13 of the 14 days.
A statewide total including the final day of voting was not yet available at press time this morning. Hargett said Thursday the final day of early voting is typically the largest single day turnout.
For those who did not vote early, ballots may be cast in person Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at polling precincts across Obion County. Anyone with questions may call the local election office at 885-1901.
