PARTICIPATE IN PARADE — The local Union City Everett-Stewart Composite Civil Air Patrol’s color guard, including (from left) Justin Mealer, Will Thralls, Brittany Braddy and Johnny Mealer, marched in the recent Greenfield Fire Prevention Festival. They walked around before the parade to recruit new members and spread the word about the program. After the parade, commander Capt. Sylvia Mallard and the senior members took the cadets to Pizza Hut. Prior to the parade, cadets had a ground team training for search and rescue missions, while the senior members had mission scanner training with the Millington Squadron. The Civil Air Patrol is a group for adolescents ages 12-20 who assist in emergency services, do volunteer work and go up in flight. The three main goals of the group are emergency services, cadet programs and aerospace education. Senior members older than age 20 are also accepted. “CAP is always looking for new faces to enlighten,” a spokesman said, adding, “We constantly try to increase our membership.” The squadron also recently learned signs were installed on Shaffner Road indicating the Everett-Stewart Regional Airport and the Everett-Stewart Composite Civil Air Patrol Unit. The squadron is a nonprofit organization and would appreciate any donations. For more information, contact Ms. Mallard at firstname.lastname@example.org or (731) 514-7253.
