Martin Fine Arts Club holds meeting

Posted: Friday, October 26, 2012 8:04 pm

The beautiful fall day and the beautiful fall decorations in the home of Mrs. Sanford Truitt were the setting for the October meeting of the Martin Fine Arts Club.
Serving as hostesses with Mrs. Truitt were Mrs. Bob Peeler and Mrs. Tom Gallien.  The 21 members and one guest were served a delicious creation made by Mrs. Gallien and named Dulce de Leche pumpkin cheesecake with candied almonds.  This was accompanied by toasted nuts, candy pumpkins and coffee.  After the social hour, President Mrs. Lee Pritchett called the meeting to order with the club reciting the collect.
Mrs. Scott McDonald then introduced the speaker for the day, Mrs. Vicki White of Vicki’s Designer Touch in downtown Martin.
Her program was “Vicki’s Holiday Ideas”.  She showed the club many of the designs that will be popular this Christmas season:  burlap, reclaimed natural wood, flocked greenery, gingerbread ornaments and silver/crystal/gold combinations.  Many examples of these items were on display as Mrs. White talked about the newest trends in holiday decorations.
She gave the dates of the holiday open houses in downtown Martin: Nov. 10-11.  Vicki’s Designer Touch has a Nov. 9th candlelight open house to start the weekend.
As she left, she gave each member a gift of a bag of fall potpourri.
Mrs. McDonald expressed the club’s thanks to Mrs. White for her interesting program with a small gift.
Mrs. Pritchett began the business portion of the meeting by calling for the reading of the minutes and the calling of roll by secretary, Mrs. Michael Hinds.
The treasurer’s report was given Mrs. George Pritchett.
A moment was taken to remember a long-time member of our club and mother of Mrs. Bob Peeler, Mrs. Jim Maddox, who recently died.  She will be remembered by a memorial gift to the Weldon Public Library.
The meeting was then adjourned.
Those in attendance not already mentioned were Mrs. James Cannon, Mrs. Bob Cheeseman, Mrs. Harold Clifton, Mrs. Tom Farmer, Mrs. Lowell Fields, Mrs. Jerry Gresham, Mrs. G.T. Hall, Mrs. Morris Liming, Mrs. Dale Overton, Mrs. E. B. Pritchett Jr., Mrs. James Pritchett, Mrs. James Shore, Mrs. Fred Vowell, Mrs. Phil Wade, and Mrs. John Wall.
