Bro. Tony Michael used I kings 8:54-61 for his morning sermon. This passage is Solomon’s benediction after his dedication of the temple. Solomon’s advice to his people was to exalt God, incline their hearts to him and walk with him in all his ways. Bro. Tony told us that our country is having so many problems because we have asked God to leave, we need to invite him back into our country.

Ones from our church will soon be taking a door-to-door survey of those on our membership list that haven’t been in awhile. We wish to see if they are going somewhere else so that we can update our enrollment. We wish to encourage all those looking for a church home to consider Jolley Springs.

Our yard sale for Operation Christmas Child went very well Saturday. This is a program started by Franklin Graham to give a Christmas shoebox size gift to children all over the world who are living in very bad poverty conditions. If you would like to help in this mission, just take a filled shoebox with $7 enclosed for shipping to many Baptist church in our area. Bible Union Baptist Church is the Christmas box collection place for all the churches. They will be receiving the boxes Nov. 12-19. There are collection places all over our country. Anyone wishing to bring a few items but not make a whole box or just pay the shipping on a box is welcome to bring your donation to Jolley Springs between now and Nov. 14. For more information about what to put in the box you may contact Linda Crawford at 364-3355 or our area OCC director, Dorothy Ogg from Bible Union at Martin.

Our fall festival will be Saturday. We will have trunk or treat starting about 5 p.m. and supper about 6-6:30 p.m..

Congratulations to Robert Summers in his retirement from UT-Martin last Friday.

Our sympathy is extended to our new member Elaine Chandler from Gleason, whose brother passed away in a truck accident this past weekend.

Others having health problems on our prayer list are Leon Russell, Mack Jones and Dorothy Bailey.

We are all being asked to contribute food to Santa’s Helpers. They are having a collection at E.W. James in Dresden today (Thursday) from 10 a/m/. until 8 p.m.
