A driver and passenger sustained apparently minor injuries Sunday night in a one-vehicle crash in Fulton County, Ky.
The crash occurred about 8:40 p.m. in the Brownsville community on State Route 925, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.
A caller to 911 reported a vehicle had gone into a deep gully in the area of the 2300 block of State Route 925 and a female was screaming for help. The Fulton County Rescue Squad and Tri Cities Ambulance Service were dispatched to the area.
Emergency personnel arrived to find the vehicle on its side in a ditch across the roadway from the gully. The 17-year-old driver told authorities she had run into the ditch trying to avoid hitting a deer, the sheriff’s department reported.
The vehicle passenger, Craig Blankenship of Union City, received minor injuries to his face but refused transport by ambulance. The female driver, whose name was not disclosed by authorities, also refused medical treatment by emergency medical services personnel, according to a sheriff’s department press release.
The vehicle, a 2005 Dodge pickup truck owned by Blankenship, reportedly received minor damage to its front and passenger sides.
Sheriff’s deputies were at the scene about 90 minutes.
