The latest incident occurred at Sanders Chapel United Mehodist Church, according to Chief Deputy Kent Treece. He said the front door to the church was damaged in an attempted break-in that was reported early Sunday. An estimated $250 in damage was done to the door when vandals removed the glass and damaged the screen. However, no entry was gained to the church. A separate incident was reported to the local sheriff’s department by Johnny Dyer, who reported some time between Sept. 1 and Oct. 17 a powdery substance was poured into the fuel tank of his John Deere Model 4650 tractor, which was parked in a farm shop off Highway 22 West. The substance is believed to be dirt or cat litter and caused an estimated $500 in damage to the tractor. Both incidents remain under investigation.
