The Obion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a pair of separate vandalism incidents in the county.
The latest incident occurred at Sanders Chapel United Mehodist Church, according to Chief Deputy Kent Treece. He said the front door to the church was damaged in an attempted break-in that was reported early Sunday. An estimated $250 in damage was done to the door when vandals removed the glass and damaged the screen. However, no entry was gained to the church.
A separate incident was reported to the local sheriff’s department by Johnny Dyer, who reported some time between Sept. 1 and Oct. 17 a powdery substance was poured into the fuel tank of his John Deere Model 4650 tractor, which was parked in a farm shop off Highway 22 West. The substance is believed to be dirt or cat litter and caused an estimated $500 in damage to the tractor.
Both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to contact the Obion County Sheriff’s Department at 885-5832.
