She calls the quaint Martin shop Cleo, and it rings with class. Mrs. Stephenson has always been a customer of the long-running consignment shop and wants to keep it thriving.
“I want to give our community a way to look good at a price they can afford,” she said. “It’s also a way people can earn money.
“We give our consignees 50 percent, and many have done very well.”
The new business venture has also meant quality time with family. Her sister, Lea Weldon (new bride of Brady Weldon), has been sharing the workload at Cleo.
“We are having so much fun working together. It’s not unusual to see one or more of my family members at the shop on any given day,” she said. “I love it.”
Mrs. Stephenson and Mrs. Weldon are the daughters of pastor David Bayer of South Fulton.
Cleo offers a wide variety of merchandise, including women’s and children’s clothing, children’s shoes, accessories, jewelry, antiques, furniture and home goods.
They welcome everyone in the community to visit the store and see what the buzz is all about.
Cleo will also have a Christmas open house Nov. 9-10 with storewide clearance and sales.
“My future looks very busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Mrs. Stephenson, who is the wife of Westview basketball coach Sean Stephenson. “My husband and I both love what we do. We feel very blessed.”
Cleo is located at 622 Elm St., across the street from 3J’s.
It is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone interested in consigning at Cleo may make an appointment by calling the store at (731) 587-3303. Published in The WCP 10.16.12
