Ann (Lutts) Townes, 72, of Union City died Oct. 15, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Union City, with Dr. David Russell and the Rev. Stan Waldon officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery near Union City.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church choir.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Honorary pallbearers will be Barbara Scott, Andrelle Burrus, Trudy Evans, Ann Cheatham, Suzanne Doss, Carmen Brent, Betty Carpenter, Linda Harrelson, Cindy Kuberski, First United Methodist Church choir and Upper Room Sunday School class.
She was born March 10, 1940, in Lutts, daughter of the late James Elmer and Pauline (Darby) Lutts. She married William Travis Townes Oct. 29, 1961. He survives. She was a school teacher for 35 years, 33 of which were in the Union City School System. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union City, Upper Room Sunday School class, adult choir and United Methodist Women and was a former children’s Sunday School class teacher. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution and Delphian Review Club.
She is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Martha Townes and David and Kristi Townes, all of Union City; four grandchildren, Katherine Ann Townes, William Cary Townes, Jacob Michael Townes and Davie Kristin Townes, all of Union City; a sister, Gayle (Lutts) Hudson and her husband, Phillip, of Carthage; a sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Holly, and her husband, Pete, of Lebanon; two nieces and two nephews.
