Ed Morris, 91, of Troy died at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 11, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Bro. Clayton Mahan officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Donnie Morris, Ronnie Morris, Stephen Morris, James Morris, Greg Cook and Wade Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Mark Morris; and his grandson-in-law, Kenneth Seals.
He was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Perry County, the son of the late John Eliphias and Minnie Nell Pope Morris. He married Naomi Davis Morris on Aug. 7, 1938. She died April 6, 2007. He worked at Taylor Davis Sawmill and he farmed. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Union City.
He is survived by his daughter, Clara Morris Powell of Garden City, Mich.; four sons, Howard Morris of Troy, Richard Morris of Union City, Edward Morris of Newbern and Dale Morris of Troy; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Elmer Morris of Waynesboro and Willard Morris of Clifton.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Cook; three granddaughters; four brothers; and his sister.
The family has requested that memorials be sent to the Church of God of Prophecy on Section Line Road in Union City.
