Swayne Ayers, 75, of Hickman, Ky., died Oct. 9, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hickman City Cemetery.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 1, 1937, in Hickman, son of the late Norman Lee and Myrtle (Yates) Ayers. He married the former Ann Fry on Dec. 16, 1980, and she survives.
He was retired from the U.S. Army, where he served for 20 years as a nuclear weapons assembler, and was an emergency medical technician for the Hickman Ambulance Service.
He was a Lutheran and a lifetime member of Jones-Walker Post 4862 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carla Schrum of Oklahoma City; two sons, James Ayers and Christopher Ayers, both of Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters, Annelle Douglas of Austin, Texas, and Sherry Moreaw of Plano, Texas; a stepson, Neil Marshall of Plano; two brothers, H.L. Williamson of Hickman and Dale Ayers of Centralia, Ill.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Helton; and two brothers, Marrison Williamson and Jerry Ayers.
