Campus more accessible with UTM mobile app Posted: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 6:00 pm The Messenger 10.10.12 The University of Tennessee at Martin campus community is now more accessible from mobile devices, thanks to the efforts of the university’s Instructional Technology Center (ITC) and Web Services. A new UT Martin mobile application will allow users to access a variety of campus services, ranging from the social to the academic. Components of the new app include a complete campus telephone directory, athletics schedule and news updates, local maps and the Paul Meek Library catalog. UT Martin students and faculty will also be able to access their Blackboard learning content, allowing them to view or post grades, participate in online course discussion boards and download course assignments on-the-go. The academic and social calendars not only provide a list of upcoming events, but also alert users to activities near their current locations. “We hope the new UTM mobile app will allow users to maintain a close connection to our campus,” said Craig Ingram, interim director of ITC and Web Services. “Whether you want to keep up with news and events, check Skyhawk athletic schedules and scores or use the directory lookup to make a contact on campus, we feel this is a great beginning to a platform that we plan to continue to build on and enhance.” Ingram is one of several key developers of the UT Martin app, including Weston Gentry, assistant webmaster, ITC and Web Services; Corey Jones, senior computer systems specialist, Information Technology Services; Trudy Henderson, administrative specialist, Office of Intercollegiate Athletics; and Sharla Brink, former publications coordinator, Office of University Relations. The free app is available for all iOS and Android platform devices (version 2.2 and up). All other devices can access the mobile web version at http://m.utm.edu.
