Midwest-CBK has announced it has been purchased from MVP Group by Toronto-based gift company Ganz.
However, MVP Group will retain the Union City operation as well as several of the company’s brands, including Colonial Candle®.
The acquisition was announced in a two-page news release today.
“The Midwest-CBK product line and MVP Group International brands of Colonial Candle, Everybody’s Ayurveda™, Monkeez Makes a Difference™ and Goofballz™ will continue to be available through the Midwest-CBK sales team,” the release states in part.
Lindsay Frilling, executive director of the Obion County Joint Economic Development Corp., told The Messenger today she has been told the Union City facility has not been sold and there are plans for the facility to continue operations.
The Union City facility has been operating legally as MVP since June 2011 with Midwest-CBK as a product brand name only, so while this is a big change it is basically a product line change for the Union City location, according to Mrs. Frilling.
MVP Group Interna-tional is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of candles. The company’s corporate headquarters are located in Charleston, S.C.
MVP Group has offices and manufacturing facilities worldwide. In addition to the Union City facility, there are operations in North Carolina, Hong Kong and in China.
The local plant employs about 200 workers.
