Three people were killed Saturday afternoon when a vehicle ran off a rural road in Fulton County, Ky., and struck a tree.
The victims were identified as driver Anthony Bledsoe, 32, and passengers Omar Buchanan, 35, and Marcus Winters, 41, all of Hickman, Ky.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Kentucky 94, a road west of Hickman which runs to Tiptonville.
Fulton County Sheriff Bobby Hopper said the one-vehicle accident occurred just before 3 p.m. as a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Bledsoe was traveling east toward Hickman at an apparent high rate of speed. He said the driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit a tree sideways and wrapped around the tree.
Hopper said alcohol was involved and none of the occupants were wearing seat belts. The victims were trapped inside the vehicle and the Fulton County Rescue Squad worked for hours to free them, with emergency personnel working until after 6 p.m. to fully clear the scene.
The accident marked the first fatal crash investigated by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department so far this year, according to Hopper.
