The Third Review Club met recently in the home of Mrs. John Drerup. President Lindy Dunavant called the meeting to order, with 15 members answering roll call with their favorite season.
A brief business meeting was held and a motion to donate paper goods to the North Waste Safe Line was made by Joyce Stephens and seconded by Lenora Stephenson. The president announced that she was resigning to take a new job.
At the close of the meeting the program was turned over to Nina Simpson to give her program on vinegar and apples. She spoke about Johnny Applesseed, also known as Jonathan Chapman. She said his vision was to plant vast orchards of apples around the wilderness to help inexperiences and unprepared settlers along their journey. On his travels to plant and cultivate the trees, he mentored the new settlers in agricultural practices and food preservation, offered simple medical and health instructions and ministered to their spiritual needs.
The club will meet again on Oct. 12 with Hazel Williams as hostess.
