Six people, four of them children, were injured in an accident Friday morning in Union City.
According to a Union City police officer, Ann Cameron, 67, of 1320 Oaklawn St., Union City, was driving a 2008 Lexus when she pulled in front of a 2002 Nissan Sentra being driven by Teaya Miller, 26, of 307 North Maple St., Troy, at about 11:25 a.m.
Witnesses reported that a truck and Ms. Miller were traveling eastbound beside each other on East Reelfoot Avenue and Mrs. Cameron was on Pleasant Valley Avenue. They stated as the truck turned onto Pleasant Valley Avenue, Ms. Cameron pulled in front of the truck onto East Reelfoot Avenue, striking Ms. Miller’s vehicle.
The officer told The Messenger he understands Mrs. Cameron was taken to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, but is unsure how she was transported there.
Ms. Miller suffered from a compound fracture of the ankle.
There were four children, none of whom were restrained, in the back seat of the vehicle with Ms. Miller, it was reported.
Ariana Potts, 8, of 503 Nash St., Union City, was seated by the rear door on the driver’s side and is reported to have a skull fracture. She was flown out to another hospital, the officer told The Messenger.
Other passengers included Aujani Miller, 6, and Kedyn Moss, 4, both of 307 North Maple St., Troy; and Shanyla Moss, 4, of Elm Street in Union City.
Mrs. Cameron was charged with failure to yield the right of way. Charges are pending against Ms. Miller.
