On Sept. 16, Bro. Tony Michael used 1 John 5:1-5 for his morning sermon text. He told us we are to love each other, don’t hold grudges, and to elevate Christ and not ourselves.
Sunday night Bro. Tony read from 1 John 3:11-18. He told us we should not love in word only but rather show your love for others in the deeds that you do.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Doris Ellis, who went home to be with the Lord last week. Buddy and Doris Ellis were always faithful to attend church services unless they were very sick.
Linda Carroll from our community is very ill in a Memphis hospital. She has recently been taken out of intensive care.
Paul Crawford was able to be at church Sunday morning. He has recently been in Jackson-Madison County Hospital and will return for surgery soon.
Today (Thursday), there will be a craft day for missions at the home of Sandra McCrary. Anyone interested is invited to bring finger foods for lunch and join us at 10 a.m. We have several Methodist friends who often join us for these events.
We are getting ready for a yard sale with proceeds going to Operation Christmas Child. This sale will be held Oct. 20 at the Como Fire Station. Anyone wishing to donate items for this sale may contact Linda Crawford. Many of us have already been working on our shoebox gifts that we will give to Operation Christmas Child.
Our church is collecting money for the Golden State Offering during the month of September. Our goal is $500.
There will be a Women’s Prayer Retreat Oct. 12-13 at Camp Williamson in Medina. If you are interested in going, you may contact Pam Warman.
Our former pastor, Dr. P. J. Scott will be holding a revival at Hodges Chapel Oct. 14-17.
