The beautiful new home of Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Sullivan in Union City was the setting recently for a lovely coffee given for Jina Rankin, bride-elect of Mario Russomanno, both of Atlanta.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Robert and Jan Rankin of Union City. She is the granddaughter of Virginia Burnett and the late David Burnett of Union City and the late Harris and Evelyn Rankin of Tiptonville.
The groom-elect is the son of Alma Jane Russomanno and the late Vincent Russomanno of East Newark, N.J. He is the grandson of Elveta Russomanno and the late Rocco Russomanno of Toms River, N.J., and the late Anna and Joseph Abood of Newark.
The fragrance of beautifully arranged fresh flowers, herbs and tuberoses filled the spacious foyer as guests entered. The large open great room was perfect for mingling with friends and family who graciously honored the bride with their presence.
The dining room held a bounty of delicious food. Served on ornate silver trays, the hostesses had prepared their specialties. Elegant napkins of linen and embroidered cotton complemented the table, centered with a masterpiece arrangement of roses. Fredricka Schleifer of Union City made mocha punch, a favorite recipe of her mother, the late Mrs. Davy Robertson. Linda Jennings of Union City had her famous pecan tassies and Elizabeth White and Elizabeth Kendall, both of Union City, carved a beautiful fruit-filled watermelon basket. Jane Huffstetler of Union City cooked tasty sausage squares and Linda Simrell of Union City made raspberry thumb print cookies. Liz Nohsey of Union City prepared miniature ham biscuits.
The hostesses, including Suzanne Marsidi of Union City in absentia, presented the bride a gift of her chosen Waterford Crystal.
The couple will wed Oct. 13 at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville.
