Completed arrangements are being announced for Daniel B. “Don” Smith, 73, of Union City, who died at 11 p.m. Sept. 13, 2012, at Golden Living Center, where he had been a patient for a day.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Salem Cemetery near Union City. The Rev. James Kinsey officiated. Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Jeff Caldwell, Kyle Caldwell, Nathan Smith, Lane Grooms, Corey Mullis and James Grooms. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Grooms and Kenneth Shannon.
He was born June 13, 1939, in Dyer County, son of the late Albert Boone and Anna Kate (Fuqua) Smith. He married the former Jo Ann Reagan in 1960. He had worked as a cashier for National Life and Accident Insurance Co. and had been employed at Budget Books and The Locker Room in Union City. He was an avid horseman and a member of the former Obion County Saddle Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa D. Grooms of Troy; two sons, Eric D. Smith of Smyrna and Jeffrey L. Smith of Union City; four sisters, Wanda Brandon of Dinuba, Calif., Mary Payne and Katherine Eudaley, both of Dyersburg, and Barbara Holden of Lake Cormorant, Miss.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Jo Smith; and three sisters, Geraldine Edwards, Etheline Tipton and Minnie Gregson.
