A Union City woman is accused of assaulting her mother-in-law and then cutting herself.
Brandy L. Flatt, 36, of 121 North Sunswept Drive has been charged with aggravated assault and filing a false report after the incident on Sunday.
Brandy Flatt told Union City police that her mother-in-law, Cynthia G. Flatt, 55, of 117 North Sunswept, Union City, started cutting her with a knife, so she hit her with an object in the head to keep her mother-in-law from hitting her again, according to a Union City police report.
The report states the officer noticed the cuts on Brandy Flatt seemed to be self-inflicted, which she later admitted.
Both women were transported to the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City emergency room for treatment.
