CornFest’s annual exciting Day in the Park will take place Saturday, with most events set for Kiwanis Park and the surrounding area in downtown Union City.
The J’Cette Fun Run gets things started, with registration at Union City High School at 7 a.m. and a race start of 8. Pre-registered runners get a free T-shirt. Registration is $15 at www.obioncountycornfest.org.
Race day registration is $25. For more information, call Deica Disney at 536-4931.
The action then swings to Kiwanis Park, where pets will be on parade at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Specially decorated chairs will be placed throughout the park for viewing and silent bidding. There will be corn eating and corn shucking contests, a petting zoo for children, a corn hole competition, race for the pig excitement, the crowning of new Corn Idol winners and more. And to feed hungry appetites, Tyson Foods and Union City Coca-Cola will be feeding families for free on the parking lot adjacent to the park, beginning at 11 a.m.
Bootcut will be providing musical entertainment from 10 a.m.-noon.
The public is invited to spend the day in the park and enjoy all the family-focused events, a spokesman said, adding that several vendors will also be on site.
