Dan Waddell and Jimmy McConnell, both of Union City, recently rode away with blue ribbons during the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration.
The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is the annual grand championship event for the walking horse industry.
Waddell won riding Silver Fog, owned by Rachel Castaldi. McConnell won riding I’m Boby Marley, owned by the Molly Waters family, and Bee Bee King, owned by Ms. Castaldi.
The celebration is the world’s largest and most prestigious event celebrating the Tennessee Walking Horse. Founded in 1939, the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration® is based on a vision of Henry Davis of Wartrace. The event is an 11-day and night annual festival in Shelbyville, during which 2,660 entries and 1,500 horses compete in 171 classes and more than $650,000 in prizes are awarded.
