Two men were charged with alcohol- and drug-related offenses after Union City police allegedly found them sleeping early Sunday in a vehicle on the parking lot of Shenanigan’s at 2227 Phebus Lane.
Montario Devante Bond, 20, of 210 Royal St., Union City, and Zachery Donyelle Winters, 27, of 1001 Airport Road, Apt. 23, Fulton, were arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the establishment, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Bond was charged with possession and consumption, public intoxication, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Winters was charged with public intoxication and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance for resale, police reported.
A police investigator reported he observed Winters passed out asleep in the back of a vehicle and Bond sitting in the front seat. He also allegedly observed an open container of beer in the front seat, as well as a partial six-pack not opened.
The investigator said he made contact with Bond and detected a strong odor of intoxicants, resulting in his arrest on the alcohol charges. A search then allegedly revealed a bag of marijuana totaling 17 grams in Bond’s pants pocket and a digital scale on the vehicle’s console, resulting in the drug charges against him.
According to the report, the investigator awoke Winters and had him step out of the vehicle. He also allegedly had a strong odor of intoxicants and was unsteady on his feet, resulting in his arrest on the alcohol charges. A search by police allegedly then revealed a pill bottle with 64 morphine tablets and half of a Xanax bar in his pants pocket, resulting in the drug charges being filed by police.
