The UT Martin Faculty Wom¬en’s Club kicked off its 75th year with its annual Get Acquainted Tea held Aug. 26 at the Dunagan Alumni Center.
The event provided the opportunity for club members to welcome new UT Martin faculty and administrative staff.
The club awards three $500 scholarships each year to out¬standing female students who will be entering their senior year at UT Martin and also provides financial support to several local non-profit organizations in the community.
This year it gave a $100 donation to the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Community Development Services, Habitat for Humanity, We Care Ministries, Weldon Public Library, Reading Railroad and the Weakley County Backpack Program.
The club’s sole fund¬raiser is a “No Bake Sale,” and its three scholarships are made possible through the Faculty Women’s Club Scholarship En¬dowment.
The group also hosts a large number of activities and events through¬out the year, including potlucks, picnics, the annual women’s history month and scholarship luncheon.
