|Due to extreme drought conditions, some local residents are being ordered to stop all non-essential water use. |
The Union City Water System has issued a mandatory water conservation order to all customers, including residential, commercial and industrial users in the area from Lake Road School up Salem Church Road going north to State Line Road and south to Beech Chapel Road and going west all the way to Walnut Log.
According to a spokesman, this includes irrigating, washing vehicles, filling swimming pools or any type of wasteful use. These conservation measures will help ensure that all customers have adequate water supply. This order will be in effect until further notice and it begins immediately.
All Union City water customers outside this area are also reminded that the community is still under a voluntary conservation order. This could change if high demand continues, a spokesman said. Published in THe Messenger 8.30.12
