Palmersville Baptist Church
By Charlene Harris
On Monday morning, funeral services were held at Old Bethel Cemetery for newborn infant, Kyleigh Higdon, daughter of Andy and Tiffany Higdon. Bro. Kieth Dublin officiated.
That evening, Kerry and I attended revival service at Liberty Baptist. Bro. Bob Copeland was the evangelist. It was a very good service with two salvations.
On Tuesday evening, seven of us attended the Equipping U-Sunday School University at First Baptist Church in Martin. It was good.
On Wednesday evening, Robert Baker led us in singing “Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine.” We were thankful for the good health reports. Our study was from James 5:7-13.
On this Lord’s Day, our Sunday school lesson was “Rise Above Discouragement” from Jeremiah 20:1-13. This lesson was about dealing honestly with the discouragement and doubts we will experience at times as we seek to serve the Lord consistently.
We sang “Happy Birthday” to Josh Mullins and “Happy Anniversary” to Robert and Julie Baker. Others celebrating were Zack Cooper, Robert Meeks, and Jennifer Riddle.
We extend sympathy to those who have lost loved ones. Shirley Curtis from our area passed away. She was a former member of the Ruitian Club in Palmersville.
Our songs of praise were “Send the Light,” “Stand Up, Stand Up, for Jesus,” “More About Jesus” and “No, Not One.”
Bro. Kieth’s text was from John 3:3, Ezekiel 36:26-29; III John 2 and II Corinthians 5:17, “Being Born Again in the Kingdom.”
That evening we sang “Wonderful Words of Life,” “Just a Little Talk with Jesus,” “I Love to Tell the Story” and “Shall We Gather at the River.” Robert Baker sang, “Keep Me in Your Will.”
Bro. Kieth’s message was from II Kings 7:1-11, 18-20. God always keeps His promises to us.
Sunday will end this calendar church year. Sept. 2 will start the new year. If you don’t have a church, we cordially invite you to come and visit with us.
