A Hornbeak resident called The Messenger on Thursday to report that a man with a foreign accent called to say her Medicare coverage had changed.
The resident said she hung up when the man started asking for her bank account information. She told The Messenger she knew something was wrong because she always received information by mail when her Medicare coverage is going to change.
She said she also never gives out personal information over the phone.
The is the second report to The Messenger this week about this scam. The first was from a caller in the Shawtown community.
Readers are reminded never to provide personal information or discuss personal information by phone, Internet, mail or in person until they have verified the source.
