Banana Festival

The Miss and Mr. Banana Festival pageants will be held Sept. 23, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Fulton High School, Stephen Beale Drive in Fulton.
Applications may be obtained online at, or may be picked up at The Fulton Leader Office, 304 East State Line, Fulton, the Fulton Tourism Commission Office at 313 Carr St. or Whitledge and Associates, 309 Carr St., Fulton.
The event is open to boys, ages 0-12 months; 13-23 months; 2-3 year olds and 4-6 years old.
Girls’ divisions include ages 0-12 months; 13-23 months; 2-3 year olds; 4-6 year olds; 7-9 year olds; 10-12 year olds; ages 13-15 and ages 16-19.
Entry fee is $25, with an additional fee of $10 for Best Dressed category.
No entries will be accepted at the door.
Admission for the pageant is $2 per person.
Checks may be made payable to the Fulton Tourism Commission.
Pilot Club
to host pageants

On Sept. 29, the Dresden Pilot Club will host its annual Harvest Pageants at the Dresden Elementary School. These are all open pageants.
The Baby Show registration begins at 9:30 a.m. for boys and girls, or 30 minutes prior to your age group.
Pageants will begin at the following times:
•  Ages 0-6 months – 10 a.m.
• Ages 7-17 months –10:30.
• Ages 18-35 months –11.
• Ages 3-5 year olds – 11:30.
The Baby Show will have beauty ($10) with Queen and first and second maids, and king and first and second pages and special categories of prettiest hair, prettiest eyes, prettiest smile, best personality, flair for fashion and most photogenic ($5 each additional category).
Sunday best or pageant attire welcome.  
For the evening pageant (girls only), registration is from 5-6 p.m. or 30 minutes prior to your age group.
Evening pageant times are as follows:
•  Ages 6-9 years – Little Miss at 6 p.m.
• Ages 10-12 years – Harvest Jr. Princess at 6:30. 
• Ages 13-15 years – Harvest Teen at 7. 
• Ages 16-19 years – Harvest Queen at 7:30. 
The Harvest Pageants will have queen, first, second and third maids for each age group.
Entry Fee is $25. Pageant attire required.
Registrations forms can be picked up at Dresden schools, The Hot Spot, Headquarters or Forget Me Not.
Anyone can pre-register or register at the door. Do not mail forms later than Sept. 20; wait and register at the door.

Soybean Festival
to begin Sept. 1

The annual Tennessee Soybean Festival is offering girls the opportunity to participate in the upcoming Tennessee Soybean Festival pageants. The University of Tennessee Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the pageants.
Girls 0-21 years of age are invited to participate in the pageants Sept. 1, during the festival.
Pageants begin at 10 a.m. in the Student Life Center at the University of Tennessee at Martin located at 199 Moody St.
The deadline to register is Aug. 27.
The pageant lineup includes the following: Baby Miss Soybean (0-18 months old), 10 a.m.; Tiny Miss Soybean (19 months-3 years old), 10:45 a.m.; Petite Miss Soybean (4-5 years old), 11:30 a.m.; Little Miss Soybean (6-9 years old), 12:30 p.m.; Junior Miss Soybean (10-12 years old), 1:30 p.m.; Teen Miss Soybean (13-15 years old), 2:30 p.m.; and Miss Soybean (16-21 years old), 3:30 p.m.
All pageants will have one queen and four alternates.
A $35 non-refundable entry fee is required with the application.

There will be no registration at the door.
